Aerial Robotics Club
This club is an engineering student group focused on the emerging future of drones. Students work in teams to build drones that can fly, avoid obstacles and battle! Students learn drone design and how to solder, build circuit boards, attach motors and build the body. They learn how to program the flight controller and flight techniques using advanced receivers. After each build, the teams competes in a custom drone skills challenge and battle.
Students come together in a social setting to learn and play the game of chess. In sharpening their chess skills, students are acquiring important intellectual skills including independent thinking, strategy, logic, problem solving, and flexibility.
The Debate Team meets weekly with its faculty advisor to learn and practice the strategies and techniques of effective debate on contemporary, relevant issues of importance as well as compete with other schools.
Graphics Art Club
Students are trained in the development of concept and design for promotional materials such as magazine advertisements, posters, folders, letterheads, corporate logos, brochures, booklets, print art, lettering and typography, photography, and electronic media.
This is club is designed for students with an interest in the guitar. Students learn new techniques and skills on the guitar, share with each other what they have learned away from the club, and collaborate with each other to create new music.
The Journalism Club is responsible for publishing the VTHS Howl, the school newspaper. Students meet to learn about the fundamentals of the journalism process from planning articles to writing stories and securing artwork to publishing the paper. Members participate in all aspects of the editing/publishing process, developing new skills, and mastering old ones. The Journalism Club is open to all VTHS students who are committed to insightful, responsible journalism.
The Mock Trial Club at VTHS builds strong global leaders through the study and application of the law. Gain a deeper understanding of evidentiary law and strengthen your oral courtroom presentation skills. Through teamwork and leadership activities, expand your knowledge of the legal community and the practice of law. The team competes in the Constitutional Rights Foundation’s Los Angeles County Annual Mock Trial Competition.
The skateboard club is for students who love to skate. We meet weekly and skate, share new tricks, run time trials and just have a great time. Students who are part of the club enjoy the health benefits that comes with this great sport. They also learn precision, coordination and learn how to fall and get back up to skate even better. Helmets always required!
